Botox, Filler, Volbella – what’s best for me?!

Botox is one of the most well known “anti-aging” cosmetic procedures that exists, and often the first thing people think of when they start to see an appearance of a wrinkle.  It’s quick, requires no down time, and is best suited for forehead wrinkles, smile lines, and crows feet.  Botox is a super convenient, safe option for people wishing to look younger or do preventative aging care.

Filler, on the other hand, provides volume and makes the face look more full.  We have several options for filler, and will provide a consult in which we’ll tell you the best option for what your goals are!

What’s great about coming to Solace is we can provide a variety of options for treatments depending on what you hope to achieve.  If you are hoping to fight the effects of aging and achieve a more youthful look, we can often do a combination of treatments to get you where you want to be.  If you’re unsure about injections, that’s okay!  See some frequently asked questions below.  If it doesn’t sound like the right option for you, we also have a full lineup of laser treatments that can help!

Is Botox only for wrinkles?

Botox can be used for a few different medical purposes as well as cosmetic!  We have a few clients that come get Botox to treat TMJ, as well as use Botox in auxillary areas to assist with excessive perspiration (hyperhidrosis).  Our TMJ patients say that the Botox helps them to stop grinding their teeth and releases the tension in their jaws.

How exactly does Botox work?

Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscle that it is injected into, preventing you from making the expressions that cause wrinkles.

If I already have deep wrinkles, will it help?

It definitely will prevent them from getting worse and smooth them out a bit, but we often recommend clients try a laser treatment such as Fraxel or Gentle Max Pro if they are focused on getting rid of wrinkles.

How long does the Botox last?

Usually about three to five months.

What should I consider post treatment?

You can’t lay down for four hours after getting Botox in order to prevent gravity from causing the Botox to travel to a different area.

What if I don’t see results right away?

You won’t.  It takes about two full weeks for the Botox to fully set up and see a smoothing effect.

Does it hurt?

It’s not very painful, just a slight prick from the injection – but we do have a few clients that experience some light swelling or bruising immediately after.  Side effects will dissipate after 48 to 72 hours.

How does filler work?

Filler provides volume to the area that is injected.  A lot of our clients get filler in the lips, which of course brings a fuller, more luscious look.  Filler in the cheeks provides a more lifted look to the face, filling in fine lines and enhancing facial contours.
